I've always had a love for nature and the beauty of the animals that surround our world. In High School, I took a class and one of the units that we were taught was Taxidermy. I just knew that this was something I wanted to do.
In 1997, while living in Florida, I took a apprentice job with a local Taxidermist. He taught the basics to old school taxidermy. I learned a lot about tanning hides, skinning and fleshing, preparing a form, painting and completion of a mount. I was able to work with different species and was able to mount Alligators, Rattle Snakes, and a variety of ocean and freshwater fish. Even though I learned many great techniques from this internship, it wasn't all I wanted to learn, I wanted to learn more about anatomy of the species as well as the creativity of creating a unique style to each mount that will walk out my door.. I have also been mentored by some of the most well known Taxidermist in the country.
I began scouting and watching the natural habitats of different Northern and Southern species. In 1999, my family and I moved back to Wisconsin. I knew I was ready to open a business and start my dream. With the support of my wife, we opened Majestic Whitetail Taxidermy. I'll never forget the first year, I got like ten Whitetails in and I thought this is awesome. Boy, have times changed.
In the past 20 years, I've learned a lot and have developed my own sense of a service to my customers. I've been honored to have been asked to judged the mammal's in Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana, New York and Maine state taxidermy competitions. Which through my experience and techniques has helped numerous taxidermists across the Northern and Southern Eastern United States.
Every whitetail or mammal I receive is uniquely mounted based on the experience the customer had. It's not just a deer mount, or bobcat, fisher or otter, it's a mount based on my customer's specific requests.
As you will see on my Awards page, I've earned and won many awards from different competitions. I don't brag about them and don't use them as a selling point. But, it does help for potential customer's to see my artistic creativity. I don't claim to be the best Taxidermist, because there are many in our state and country, but I do claim to be among them.
Many times customers do not understand price ranges from Taxidermist in the same area and states. If your being advised that you can have your mount done for let's say a very low price, and then you get another quote for a much higher price, you have to ask yourself why. As an experienced taxidermist my mounts are based on creativity, detail to anatomy, the artistic ability to create what could be a once in a lifetime trophy. If your looking for a standard commercial mount then you would choose the other taxidermist. What does this mean for your mount? Basically means, your mount will look just like your neighbors. No creativity.
If you have questions, I'm always willing to talk feel free just give me a call or you can find me on Facebook as well. Thanks for taking the time to read and learn all about me.
